MLB playoffs still not set

Seven of eight playoff spots have been claimed while the race for the American League Central Division continues. The Chicago Cubs will face the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Milwaukee Brewers will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Divisional Series. Tied with the New York Mets for the wild card to begin Sunday, the Brewers rallied around another stellar performance from C.C. Sabathia, who won on short rest for the third straight start. The Mets’ bullpen let another one slip away in a 4-2 loss to the Florida Marlins in the final game at Shea Stadium.

In the American League, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will face the Boston Red Sox, while the Tampa Bay Rays will face the winner of the A.L. Central. The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox are tied in the loss column, with the White Sox playing the Detroit Tigers on Monday in a makeup game. Should the White Sox win, they will play the Twins Tuesday to decide the division. The playoffs begin Wednesday on TBS. (Josh Goldman)

Led by backup quarterback Damon Huard and all-pro running back Larry Johnson, the Chiefs defeated the 3-0 Denver Broncos 19-13 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Rams took a lead into halftime but lost to the Buffalo Bills 31-14. (Josh Goldman)

Georgia lost to No. 8 Alabama; No. 4 Florida lost to Ole Miss, and No. 9 Wisconsin lost to Michigan. The new AP Top 25 rankings have Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Missouri and Texas rounding out the top five. (Josh Goldman)
